Three teams, one program
Beaverworx is home to one FIRST Robotics Competition team and two FIRST Tech Challenge teams in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, proudly operating as part of the Wellington Catholic District School Board.
Students across WCDSB are welcome to join, regardless of which school they attend.

Where Beaverworx began. FRC Team 2609 has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2008, designing, building, and programming a new 120-pound robot every season.

About Beaverworx
Beaverworx's story began in 2008 with FRC Team 2609, and it has been inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders in Guelph, Ontario, ever since. Today the program includes three competition teams and an after-school Robotics Course, where students design, build, and program robots alongside teachers, volunteers, and industry mentors.

What is FIRST?
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international youth robotics organization. Through hands-on programs, students build real engineering, programming, and teamwork skills used in industry.
FIRST LEGO League
Introduces younger students to STEM through hands-on LEGO-based robotics, problem solving, teamwork, and project work.
FIRST Tech Challenge
Students design, build, and program smaller robots to compete in an annual challenge. Beaverworx's two rookie FTC teams, KitBotz and Moose on the Loose, were established in 2026.
FIRST Robotics Competition
High-school teams design, manufacture, program, and operate larger competition robots while working under real engineering constraints. Beaverworx is home to FRC Team 2609.
What is Royal City Community Robotics?
Royal City Community Robotics is the Guelph-based nonprofit that Beaverworx operates under, supporting local students taking part in FIRST robotics programs.
What is WWFIRST?
WWFIRST (Waterloo-Wellington FIRST Robotics) is the collaborative community of FIRST teams across Waterloo Region, Wellington County, and the surrounding area, mentors and teams working together, not just competing against each other.
- Connecting local teams, mentors, and volunteers
- Sharing knowledge, experience, and resources
- Supporting local FIRST events, including the Waterloo District Event
- Coordinating outreach, robot demonstrations, and shared logistics
- Organizing Kickoff events, seminars, and practice-field initiatives
